Poetry and prose by more than 20 women writers, including both well-known and previously unpublished poets and authors.

Christine Cobaugh is an artist/photographer, rape survivor, formerly battered woman, and activist in the movement to end violence against women. The book comunicates in photographs and words the experiences of women who have survived incest, institutional abuse, rape, battering, ritual abuse, and child abuse. The combination of powerful words and images provides an intense depiction of violence that many women have lived through and continue to endure.

The photographs are juxtaposed for maximum relevance and impact with each piece of writing. The book concludes with poems that express women's struggles, hopes, strengths, and triumphs.
